This technique is crucial to being able to move our hands beyond one stationary position. It consists of crossing the thumb under the other fingers or crossing the finger over the thumb. This allows us to use the thumb as a kind of "pivot point" to move our hands up or down the piano keys and reach beyond one initial position.
